The Cessna Citation Mustang

The smallest jet we put against a job, and on the right sector the most sensible aircraft on the list. Four seats behind the crew, a pressurised cabin, twin turbofans, and jet speed on a run where a turboprop would still be climbing.

What it asks for in return is a sealed runway at both ends and an honest count of passengers and bags.

Where it earns its place

• Two to four passengers — where even a light jet cabin is more aircraft than the job needs
• Sealed runways at both ends — capital city pairs and sealed regional centres
• Day returns — out and back inside the working day, at jet speed

It is the most economical jet we will put against a job. Four on board is about 800 nautical miles. Two on board is about 1,150. On a short sealed sector with a small group it does what a larger cabin does and costs less doing it.

When we would put you on something else

Unsealed strip or an ALA, and it is the King Air B200 — no jet will land there at any price. More than four passengers, real baggage, or a sector long enough that cabin size starts to matter, and a Phenom is the better aircraft.

We would rather lose a booking than sell you an aircraft that cannot do the job.
